A reminder of your worth in God

It is so incredibly easy to forget or doubt our worth. Because well, it's pretty crazy that God, the Creator of all things, love us? Like actually loves us? That is something that genuinely stumps all the time. It's so wild to think about it !

Because yes, maybe we know God loves us. Because we hear it or are told it "God loves you!" But do we actually believe that's true? Well that's a whole other tricky question !

But what we're going to get into here, is actually not about how worthy we are of God's love, but how loving God is.

Let's have look at the Word!

Luke 12:6-7

Aren’t five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

God cares for you!!!! He cares greatly for the sparrows and says that you are worth even more than them. So how much does He care for you!! He sees the value in you!!!

Sometimes when hear that, our minds immediately goes to "yeah, but-". Like there's a reason for that to not be true.

Here’s the thing. He sees all of you - the parts you wish weren’t there, the parts you wish you could change, the parts you wish you could hide. He sees all of that. He sees all of your messiness, and finds value in you. And looks down on you with so much love. Like oh that’s my daughter, I made her, I know her, I see her, I love her.

It’s so hard to remember our worth in God’s eyes sometimes, because we don’t feel good enough. I know we’ve all felt that, and honestly we probably all feel that even just a little tiny bit on a daily basis.

I think about it often because I just don’t understand how does the creator of everything, literally all things, how could He actually love me that much? Care for me that much? How is that even possible?

Let me bring you to another verse.

Romans 8:39

Neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God doesn’t love you any more or less because of what you can or cannot do, or how much we do. He loves us because we are His. Full stop. That’s it. It’s that simple.

God’s love can not be changed or altered by us, by our human capacity, by our feelings, by our mind, or doubts.

We do not have the power to change God’s character.

Do you ever feel like God doesn't love you? Like God has abandoned you? Like God isn't with you?

We may feel that way, but we can't change truth !

How we feel or think cannot move or change God's character or goodness. We can not change truth. And the truth is that God loves you, cares for you, and is with you always. If we could change that, then that would make us more than God. And we are not more than him !

Now let me tell you something else, God knew exactly what He was doing when He created you.

Please take that in.

God knew exactly what He was doing when He created you.

God knows every details about you from the number of hairs on your head, to the parts of you that you wish weren’t there.

He made you, He knows you, which means:

1. There’s no need to hide your mess from Him. To not go to Him until you’ve got your life together because He knows you. He doesn't expect you to be perfect!! You don't need to have it all together or pretend to be perfect. He made you, He knows you. He doesn't expect anything of you ! (So hi, let this be your sign to go to Him today!!)

2. He made you as you for a reason. If He thought you should be different in any way (big or small), then you would be different. He would have made you differently, but He didn’t. He made you as you!!! That’s what He wanted!!! You’re what He wanted!!!! He knew this world would need one of you.

You are His, He cares for you, He knows you. That is something that you can’t change. That is a flat line consistency, that we (in all our messy up and down waves) can not move. Nothing you can do can change the fact that God made you, loves you and cares for you.

Let's jump back into this Luke verse for a second !

Luke 12:6-7

Jesus before saying you are worth more than many sparrows, said don’t be afraid.

I feel like sometimes we can be afraid - afraid that we aren’t enough, that we aren’t seen, that we aren’t understood, that we aren’t significant, that we don’t matter, that we aren’t worth anything.

But Jesus is telling you right now, do not be afraid.

In God’s eyes, you are valued. You are loved and seen and understood. You are not forgotten.

And you can not do anything to change that.

I was listening to "dad song" by Abbie Gamboa the other day, and these lyrics jumped out at me and I wanted to share.

That even if you never did another thing,

You were made to be loved by me.

My beautiful girl, it’s not about what or how much you do. No matter what, you can not change God’s love for you.

And if you’re still feeling right now, like this weight of "oh but i just don’t deserve it". I know that feeling, I get that feeling, because I feel like that too, all the time honestly.

But really the thing is, it’s not about you or what you deserve. It’s about the fact that our God is that gracious. And loves us that much even when we don’t love Him back.

So no, we don’t deserve it. But that’s not a weight that God’s wanting you to carry.

But let it be a reason to go to Him in absolute thankfulness and awe and desire.

Because it’s not about us and what we deserve. It’s about God’s amazing beyond measure grace. So that nothing can seperate us from the love of God.
